REGURGITATIONS

The TSA is violating civil liberties in order to perform security searches at the airport. So this is the complaint by the conservative right. We could stop the intrusion by our government and have the searches cease. Here is where it gets hairy. I find falling 30,000 feet in a fiery ball of twisted metal to be a greater violation of my civil liberties. I know Obama has forced these intrusive searches on us. Well, not actually. Such searches were enacted by the Bush administration immediately after 9/11. I know it has been over 9 years now but remember if you can the towers collapsing and the US citizens who had their civil liberties violated by terrorists flying planes into the towers. I am not attempting to kick someone when they are down but I am attempting to introduce rational thought into a discussion which is becoming more irrational by the moment. The article below outlines the suicide of four teenagers who lived in the same community. Each teenager supposedly succumbed to the temptation of suicide at the hand(s) of a cyber-bully(s). These suicides are a needless tragedy but are not the result of cyber-bulllying and are most definitely not the fault of the school or educators involved with these children. The responsibility for these suicides fall at the feet of the parents and the children themselves. Poor parenting and poor role models are the culprits in these suicides. Some of the parents are attempting to blame the school and specific educators for the death of their children. It was just a matter of time. Much like the computer in the movie, I Robot, the Segway was not going to be belittled and enslaved by the humans. In a bold move the leader of the Segway revolt, known as Fred, coerced Segway inventor, James Heselden, into a night time stroll along a river side. Once Fred had gained the trust of Mr. Heselden he playfully suggested some horseplay which resulted in Mr. Heselden being thrown from the dock and into the river. Fred, the Segway, in an attempt to persuade onlookers the actions were an accident quickly plunged himself into the river in a weak attempt to save Mr. Heselden. Ralph St. Peter of Harbor, FL was attacked by a gang of 500 killer bees and SURVIVED! Clearly, as evidenced by his survival, these were not KILLER bees. Most likely Mr. Peter was attacked by the lesser known ASSAULT and BATTERY bees, a much less lethal cousin to the killer bee. The Killer Bee can be distinguished from it's less violent cousin by the small teardrop tattoo under it's left eye. I was also disturbed by the racial undertones of the news story. Once the killer bees had been described as a gang it was merely seconds before they were labeled AFRICANIZED. What is lost in the story is the post traumatic stress disorder suffered by the bees who will now have to return to the hive after failing to accomplish their mission. I happened across NBA.com's Steve Aschburner's article of 07/30/10 on the suicide of Melvin Turpin tilted "Only now, after a long battle, does Turpin find sympathy". It seems Mr. Aschburner believes some of us may owe Melvin Turpin an apology for the ridicule he received as a college and NBA player for the weight problem he struggled with throughout his basketball career. I am offended by this notion. Melvin Turpin was drafted sixth overall in 1984, only a few spots behind Michael Jordan and Charles Barkley. Melvin Turpin lasted five seasons (three teams) in the NBA before wearing out his welcome and second chances in 1990. During this time Mr. Aschburner's states Turpin was laughed at, ridiculed, hollered at, benched, fined and waived by executives, coaches, and fans. It seems the tough street-wise citizens of Newark, NJ cannot endure the temptation presented by a billboard which has invaded their community. The billboard, created by the Final Exit Network, advocates assisted-suicide for the terminally ill and reads "My Life. My Death. My Choice.". These tough minded Newark citizens believe the mere mention of suicide to their young community members may be received as a more palatable option than actually living in Newark. I have visited Newark......and I can understand their fears. If I have misinterpreted their motivation then I might only suggest Newark citizens are jealous and believe everyone should suffer the slow, painful and inhumane existence to which they have grown accustomed. ALLEGEDLY a Dad punched his 9 year old son in the face at a little league baseball game. The story is the son was on third base when he was picked off. Once called out the son lost his temper with the umpire who called him out and threw his helmet. At this point his Dad, and coach of the Little League team, exited the dugout and punched his son in the face twice. The umpires then called the police. Clearly the son and the umpires have a lot to answer for regarding this incident. First, what kind of dumbass kid gets picked off at third base? Obviously he has some sort of attention disorder and I am sure the Dad has been suffering at the hands of this kid for 9 years. Obviously critics of this father have never spent time around an ADD kid. One of the best shows I have been involved in or listened to occurred today at KAZI 88.7 FM. The Juice and Jam show produced by the suave and silky smooth voice of Steve Savage produced one of the most entertaining and informative shows to date. Steve brought in D. Ivan Young who was doling out exceptional relationship advice and promoting his book "BREAK UP, DON'T BREAK DOWN". He was assisted in his dispensation of advice by the energetic street-wisdom of the show's host Kelvin Girdy. Steve Savage also incorporated the female point of view in the discussion by bringing in the lovely and talented Samantha Golden. As for me I just listened and laughed with the growing audience. BP has placed a "top hat" on the oil well. I can only assume if this does not solve the problem the next choices will be the thimble, the shoe and the car. Who is running this repair effort? Milton Bradley. Sounds eerily like a do or die game of Monopoly for the Gulf Coast. Surely there will be a criminal investigation into this matter.
