     It's that time of year.  So get out your semi-automatic rifles, hand grenades and body armor because Jesus Wants You to enlist in the War on Christmas.  That's right, America home of the free, which includes Religious Freedom and the absence of a national religion, wants you to celebrate the Christian Christ while ignoring other religious figures.  The government and civilian employers are going to give you days off so you can celebrate the birth of Jesus (that doesn't count as an endorsement of the religion by the government... nor does the reference to God on our money... or the prayers before the high school football game.)  As you know... this is the reason for the season.  What if you are Jewish and don't believe in Jesus?  It's just a month or so of celebrating Jesus.  What's the big deal?  It's like when us, whites, tolerate Black History Month.  You will make it through just like we do.  An extra epis...

      I am tired of the all or nothing people.... they are such a large part of the problem.... these people cannot be reasoned with.... it is as if they have detached so far from reality they cannot see that which is directly in front of them.... they are a hindrance to society and it's evolution. They are the people that believe all Christians are good, all soldiers are heroes, all policemen are respectable and America is infallible. These people believe the American dream is real despite the fact they are poorly educated and mired in poverty. They believe freedom is owning a gun while married to a person they despise but don't leave. They believe America supports the soldiers while complaining about the VA healthcare system which is run and underfunded by Americans.      My 50+ years on this earth I've had many extraordinary experiences.  I've have taken advantage of everything America had to offer.  Early on, at the age of nineteen, I learned my first adult lessons about participation in the American way of life.  Regrettably, I learned sometimes America is not what it is portrayed to be.  I learned the American Dream is not necessarily the goal we chase but the way we retell the story of America.  Revisionist history is often the American Dream.  We long for the good old days, not when America was necessarily great but when we were young enough not to know any better.  Don't misunderstand me.  America has done some great things.  Technology and War are two of our greatest things.  But when you take a closer look at the "Greatness" of America you will find it was never great for all, and rarely great for most.      I am astonished how many Americans can pr...

     Isis has attacked in America.   Why?   Because they should… just as we would.   Evidently ISIS decided it is better to fight us over here… than to fight us over there.   Sound familiar?        The terrorists.       American citizens are in a dysfunctional relationship with our government.   We love America but we are not IN LOVE with American government.   Yet we still keep going back to them no matter how much harm, pain and death they bring to us.   Even when we break up with one, we immediately find another who brings us the same pain and suffering.         Some of us lie down and give up feeling there is nothing we can do.   We feel our actions will make no difference.   We choose not to vote.   Others get angry and fight but we do not fight those who cause our suffering… we fight others.   We project our anger and resentment on THEM.   We blame THEM for our situation.   American citizens are in a dysfunctional, abusive relationship with a drunken, violent Uncle Sam.       We do not learn from the past.   We keep repeating the same mistakes. ...

      When I was a child my father, in anger, would tell me, "I put a roof over your head, clothes on your back and food on the table! The reality is my father had to do that.  Failure to provide food, clothing and shelter for a child is considered child abuse.  I owed him nothing.  He was doing what he was supposed to do.  I did not choose to have children.  He did.  It is the immature and potentially abusive parent that has a need to receive credit for providing the bare legal minimum.       This childhood situation is eerily familiar to another situation I have encountered in my travels as a comedian.  I have had the great fortune to travel across the nation and perform for many military members including many wounded warriors.  Following shows, I have spent much time in conversation with many wounded warriors, both married and divorced.  These discussions have led to an all too common revelation.   ...
